The Kent County Democratic Party (KCDP) is the organizational unit of the Michigan Democratic Party (MDP) serving Kent County.  The Michigan Democratic Party is a membership organization formed to implement these founding principles:

  • The Principle of the People – Giving service to the needs and aspirations of all people.
  • The Principle of Democracy – Working for equal opportunity for access and full participation of all in all political and governmental processes.

To implement these principles in Kent County, the KCDP focuses on empowering its members to collectively influence local school boards, library boards, township, city, and county boards, and the elected representatives serving residents of Kent County at the state and national level.  The KCDP also provides elected officials an unfiltered communication link to KCDP members.  Party membership is a great way to signal to our elected officials that we “have their back” as they work on our behalf.

The KCDP is not all work and no play. The party also sponsors social events to allow members to become acquainted in a relaxed atmosphere.  We participate in community sponsored events such as parades and neighborhood street festivals to engage with the general public.
