Create “Resistance” on the beach!
May 23, 2025 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm
WHY? A rally resisting the current regime’s dismantling of our Federal Government, institutions, and social support systems. We stand for the rule of law, due process, legal immigration, freedom of speech, freedom of the press, public education, social services, human rights, woman’s rights, LGBTQ rights, and we defend the Constitution of the United States.
WHAT? We will form the word RESIST using people on the beach at Pere Marquette between Kruse Park and the water filtration plant to be filmed and photographed by drone.
This event is a kid friendly beach cleanup event with free activities! Bring a bag to collect garbage. Fill your bag on the way to the rally and afterwards. PLEASE BRING BAGS OF TRASH HOME we don’t want to overfill beach trash cans. Along the line will be free kids’ activities including face painting, bubbles, sand creation station, kites, and more.

PARKING? We are encouraging participants to purchase parking passes and carpool as much as possible. The city shuttle to the beach begins running on the 23rd and picks up at Grand Trunk Boat Launch which has free public parking. We have also organized 2 vans to shuttle people to and from the beach from Grand Trunk. Please stay tuned for news on that. There is also very limited free parking at Beachwood Park.
WEAR? Dark clothing so you stand out on the sand! No signs needed. Also, bring a dark towel to sit on if you don’t want to stand for long periods.
HOW TO HELP? Contact Tatum Kay Smillie to volunteer to help.
We need drivers with multi passenger vehicles for car pool and shuttle options.
We also need donations and leaders for fun activities to entertain kids and adults waiting in line. Examples, kites, face painting, bubbles, etc.
This protest is being organized by Tatum Kay Smillie in collaboration with the Progressive Democratic Women’s Caucus, Indivisible on the Lakeshore, and The People’s March Project.
